Weekly Reflection #4

Episode 4: HTML5 Package Utility

In this class we are exposed to many tools that we can use as educators. Some we will adopt into our lessons, some we will decide are not suited for our teaching styles and some we will say “oh that’s neat,” and then never look at  again. Of these three options H5P (HTML5 Package) tools are the former in my experience. I have some previous experience using H5P from another EDCI course and have already spent time making embedded quizzes to pepper throughout my lesson plans.

One of the main draws of H5P as educators is the ease at which they can be exported and imported. For example when I was porting over my biology lessons from my original OpenEd site I had to manually re-emmbed all of the HP5 content. This was reasonably painless and now I have the ability to add in any of those quizzes at the drop of a hat:

Being able to use the premade resources of others allows easy sharing of tools, letting educators work collaboratively so that they spend less time working on websites and more time attending to their students needs.
